Description from the seller

Das Kloster – Christoph Wagner u. andere Schwarzkünstler – Stuttgart 1846 – Johann Scheible – Occult / folklore – Half-leather binding

Original 1846 volume from the German series Das Kloster, edited by Johann Scheible.

This is one volume from the larger multi-volume series. It contains the section “Christoph Wagner und andere Schwarzkünstler”, dealing with early German legends about magicians, black artists, and related occult material connected to the Faust tradition and similar folklore.

This is the Dritter Band (Third Volume) of Johann Scheible’s Das Kloster, one of the most sought-after volumes of the series. It contains material relating to Christoph Wagner and other “Schwarzkünstler” (magicians) and includes texts connected with the Faust tradition and early ceremonial magic literature.

This volume is especially known among collectors for preserving rare early sources on German magical folklore and Renaissance occult writings such as material associated with Semiphoras und Schemhamphoras, Arbatel, and related legendary magic texts reproduced in the 19th-century occult revival period.

Because of its content, the third volume is generally considered one of the most desirable individual parts of the Das Kloster series.

Complete volume.

Condition is good for its age (1846):
