Explore the soul of Japanese blacksmithing with this set of three authentic vintage Deba knives. These are not mass-produced modern tools, but traditional single-bevel (Kataba) blades designed for the rigorous task of filleting fish and poultry. Each knife carries its own history and distinct artisan markings.
1. "Hirano" (平野) - Large Deba
Total Length: approx. 31.5 cm / Blade Length: approx. 18.0 cm
Features: Features the "Hirano" (平野) brand heat-stamped on the handle. This is the largest and most robust blade in the set.
2. "Tokusen Ume" (梅 特撰) - Medium Deba
Total Length: approx. 28.5 cm / Blade Length: approx. 15.5 cm
Features: The blade is engraved with "Betsu-uchi" (別打), signifying a high-quality special forge. The handle bears a beautiful plum blossom (Ume) stamp with the "Tokusen" (Special Selection) mark.
3. "Hiryu" (飛龍 - Flying Dragon) - Medium Deba
Total Length: approx. 27.5 cm / Blade Length: approx. 15.0 cm
Features: The back of the blade is engraved with "Hiryu" (飛龍), a powerful name representing the strength of the steel.
Condition & Restoration Project:
These items are in authentic vintage condition. They show visible signs of time, including:
Surface rust, oxidation, and aged patina.
Minor chips on the edges and tips.
Wear on handles (cracks/chips) and slight misalignment of ferrules.
