Description from the seller
Important and scenographic advertising poster “Campari,” famous subject conceived by Leonetto Cappiello, an absolute master of international billboard art between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
Perfect condition, 1950s edition, 140 x 100 cm
The work depicts the famous double figure – half red and half white – holding the Campari bottle, on a purple background, one of the most iconic and recognizable images in historic Italian advertising.
The poster, of large size (140 × 100 cm), is printed in offset and intended for display, with strong visual and chromatic impact. At the bottom appears the inscription “Davide Campari & C. – Milano,” a direct reference to the historic Milanese company Campari.
Note well: this is a second edition, subsequent to the historic original, printed in offset, probably produced for decorative or promotional reissues in the second half of the twentieth century. It is therefore not the first lithographic edition of the era, but an official high-quality reprint.
Although it is a second edition, the poster is very rare in this large format, difficult to find on the market, and is particularly sought after by collectors of Campari posters, Italian advertising graphics and works related to the name of Cappiello.
Conditions: generally good, with normal signs of time and use from display (slight waviness, minor marks at the margins), as visible in the photo.
Printing technique: offset.
Period: second half of the 20th century.
Dimensions: 140 × 100 cm.
Sold as shown in the images.
The graphic rendering, however, indicates a decorative reprint from the 20th century, intended for the furniture and graphic collectibles market.
