Description from the seller
MiLo – “Urban Beast”
A work by Amsterdam-based artist MiLo (1976).
Urban Beast sits between abstraction and figuration, where a creature-like form briefly emerges from a network of raw gestures and structural lines. Black frameworks collide with energetic white markings, recalling elements of Cubism while echoing the instinctive, graphic language often associated with Basquiat.
The composition feels constructed and disrupted at the same time—blocks of form suggest a body, while scribbled lines cut through it, refusing to let the image fully settle. Earthy tones beneath the surface add depth and tension, grounding the otherwise restless energy.
The painting can be hung in any orientation, allowing the figure to shift and reappear in different ways. The work will be rolled up and shipped in a sturdy tube or box, without frame, and includes a signed certificate of authenticity.
