From a documented family collection, this hand-sculpted soapstone dish exemplifies the pinnacle of mid-20th-century Asian decorative arts.
The piece was carved from a single block of polychromed stone, taking advantage of the natural mineral variations to enhance its intricate botanical motifs.
The bas-relief carving on the front and the rectangular base structured on the reverse confirm authenticity and faithful manufacture to the period.
Highly well-preserved, without visible chips or cracks, retaining its original waxy luster.
