Description from the seller
MiLo – “Silent Divide”
A work by Amsterdam-based artist MiLo (1976).
This work explores surface, balance, and reduction. Built up in soft, muted tones, the painting carries a weathered skin of layered material—scraped, softened, and partially erased. Subtle traces remain visible beneath the surface, suggesting time, erosion, and repeated intervention.
A single dividing line anchors the composition. Depending on its orientation, it can read as a vertical axis or a horizontal horizon—shifting the work between structure and openness. This dual reading allows the painting to move between a more architectural presence and a more atmospheric, spatial experience.
Rather than resolving into a fixed image, the work remains deliberately open. Its restrained palette and tactile surface create a quiet yet compelling tension.
The painting can be hung in different orientations, each offering a distinct visual balance.
The painting will be rolled up and shipped in a sturdy tube or box, without frame, and includes a signed certificate of authenticity.

About the Artist
MiLo (1976) is an Amsterdam-based contemporary artist with a background in photography and visual arts. Over the years, he has developed a distinctive abstract style characterized by layered surfaces, gestural marks and a strong sense of rhythm and structure.
His work has been collected internationally, with original paintings sold across Europe, the United States and Asia. With over 800 works placed in private collections, MiLo has built a consistent and recognizable body of work.
Influenced by action painting and urban textures, his process combines intuitive movement with more controlled interventions. This results in compositions that often evoke fragments of architecture, coded systems and eroded surfaces.
