Description from the seller
This characterful antique armchair is made of solid oak and shows clear influences of the Renaissance Revival style, a movement that was especially popular in Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The chair features a richly carved back panel with a central ornament, flanked by turned uprights and crowned with a decorative crest. The armrests are elegantly curved and feature subtle carving, emphasizing the artisanal character of the piece.
The seat is executed in traditional woven rush seating, which is not only aesthetically appealing but also typical for chairs from this period. The joints and construction point to solid craftsmanship and a durable build.
Such chairs were often produced in France, Belgium or the Netherlands and found their place in bourgeois interiors, where they were used both functionally and decoratively. This specimen fits perfectly within a classical, country-house, or eclectic interior.
