AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Exceptionally signed copy on the front matter by Antoine d'Agata (born 1961), unique and unobtainable in a signed copy in excellent condition. 78 pages and 72 color photographs with numerous full-page or double-page photographs, French postface by Bruno Le Dantec. Solid hardcover illustrated on the cover and on the back cover. In excellent condition, practically like new.

Produced as part of a public commission intended to document the urban mutations of the city of Marseille. Psychogeography is defined by Guy Debord as "the study of the precise effects of the geographical environment, consciously built or not, on the affective behaviors of individuals." Beyond the constructed nature of the relationship between environment and individuals, the images retain from this reference the playful-extremist challenge to utilitarian urbanism and the projection of a disturbing fiction into the current city, experienced while being rejected. The psychogeographic approach emphasizes the mirror-like effect between a state of fact and the form of its denunciation. The images reveal no truth more worthy, nor the sad beauty of ruins.

Antoine d’Agata was born in 1961 in Marseille. At 17, he was drawn to punk and anarchist movements. He began frequenting brothels and regularly experimenting with various artificial paradises. In 1983 he left France and traveled for the next ten years. In 1990, he took photography courses at the ICP in New York, where he met Larry Clark and Nan Goldin. From 1991 to 1992, he was an intern in Magnum’s New York office. Between 1999 and 2004, he was represented by Agence Vu and . He was a recipient of the prestigious Niépce Prize in 2001. In 2004 he became a member of Magnum Photos
