This 4/4 violin, labeled Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi and dating to 1768, is made of wood, weighs about 0.5 kg, is in good physical condition, and has been tested and is playable.

Up for auction is a nice antique 4/4 violin for professional musician or collector. The label says: Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi, nella Contrada di Santa Margarita, al Segno della Sirena, Milano 1768. The instrument remains in good condition with some tears and wears but no cracks. This is a superb sounding instrument, also very beautiful in appearance. Nice and clean made inlaid purfling. The scroll is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The original varnish of golden brown reddish color over lighter ground with tears and wears. The narrow flamed one piece maple back measures 359 mm. The total length of the violin is 590 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 163 mm; middle bouts: 113 mm; lower bouts: 200 mm. Beautiful model with a very elegant natural amber patina, very high quality of woods, perfect details all over. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich, warm, sweet and beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power. Shipping worldwide insured!
