An original official commemorative sake cup set for the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, comprising two cups (one gold-plated and one rhodium-plated silver) with embossed Olympic rings and “SAPPORO 72,” presented in the original wooden box with instruction card, with tarnishing on the gold cup and minor wear overall.
Description from the seller
This is an official commemorative sake cup set issued for the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, the first Winter Olympics held in Asia.
The set includes two cups—a gold-plated and a silver rhodium-plated example—each featuring an embossed Olympic rings emblem and the inscription “SAPPORO 72.” Crafted from a special alloy, these cups were produced as official memorabilia to celebrate this historic international sporting event.
The set comes with its original wooden presentation box, engraved with event-related markings, along with the original Japanese instruction card. These original accessories enhance its authenticity and collector value.
Due to age, the gold cup shows visible tarnishing and patina, while the silver cup remains in relatively better condition. Minor scratches and wear are present, consistent with vintage Showa-era items.
