Medsan presents Shogun VR (将軍VR) – Hand Signed, a 40×40 cm giclée in a limited edition, numbered 1, created in 2026 in France and signed by the artist.
Description from the seller
With this square-format artwork, Medsan plunges us into a striking time collision, merging the martial art of feudal Japan with contemporary technological immersion. This print features a samurai in full traditional armor (yoroi), frozen in a dynamic and aggressive combat stance. Legs bent and firmly planted, he grips his katana above his head, ready to strike.
The visual clash and the anachronism of the composition focus on the warrior's face. In place of the traditional protective mask (menpo), his eyes are entirely covered by a modern virtual reality headset, immaculate white. A blue glow emanates from the device, contrasting with the dark hues of the armor and suggesting that the samurai is fighting an invisible opponent, lost in a metaverse or digital simulation, completely cut off from his physical surroundings.
The impact of the composition is masterfully highlighted by a vivid, textured red background, which heightens the tension and warrior energy of the scene. The bold linework, thick black contours, and flat colors strictly adhere to the codes of ukiyo-e printmaking, giving this cybernetic figure a striking, pop-art aesthetic. The traditional vertical cartouche at the top right, housing the artist's signature in katakana (メドサン), perfects this encounter between two eras.
A conceptual piece, both aesthetic and resolutely modern, ideal for bringing a pop, geeky, and deeply offbeat touch to a design-conscious, contemporary interior.

About the Atelier:
Atelier Joconde is a group of artists united around a living, plural contemporary creation. Situated like a true place of artistic production, the workshop operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realist influences. Alongside him, Medsan leans toward pop art painting, exploring color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive pursuit, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each artwork is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
