Medsan presents Edo Sandrider (江戸サンドライダー) – Hand Signed, a 40 × 60 cm giclée from a limited edition (Edition 1, 2026) signed in the cartouche and by hand and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
With this portrait-format artwork (40 × 60 cm), Medsan proposes an epic fusion between classical Asian mythology and the universe of contemporary science fiction, drawing direct inspiration from the Dune saga. This giclée features the majestic emergence of a colossal dragon with golden scales, rising not from water, but from an ocean of shifting sand dunes.
The heart of the action lies in the audacious confrontation between this titan creature and a human figure from the Edo era. A character dressed in a dark blue traditional coat and wearing a straw hat (kasa) clings to the beast’s flank. Using thick ropes wound around the creature’s body, he attempts to capture or ride this desert dragon, reminiscent of the masters of the giant sandworms by the desert peoples in science-fiction culture. The sand’s movements are stylized in the manner of foaming waves from traditional prints, reinforcing the ascent’s dynamic.
The composition’s impact is masterfully highlighted by a deep blue sky, creating a striking contrast with the ochre, yellow, and gold tones of the dragon and the dunes. The bold linework and flat colors scrupulously adhere to the codes of ukiyo-e, endowing this action scene with a striking pop-art and cinematic aesthetic. The traditional vertical cartouche at the top right, set against a vivid red background, houses the artist’s signature in katakana (メドサン) and completes the piece’s visual balance.
A conceptual work, both aesthetic and adventurous, ideal for bringing a pop, graphic, and majestic touch to a modern, design-forward interior.

About the Workshop:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living, plural contemporary creation. Set up as a true production space for art, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and artworks. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Alongside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, brut art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
