Description from the seller
Tommaso Cascella was born in Rome in 1951 into a celebrated artistic dynasty, son of painter Annamaria Cesarini Sforza and sculptor Pietro Cascella. Raised in the family studio, he graduated from an art high school and enrolled in the Faculty of Architecture, which he attended for several years.
· Career and Style: A versatile artist, he is a painter, sculptor, engraver, and poet. His first solo exhibition was in 1985 in Milan, followed by more than a hundred solo shows. His works range from painting to sculpture, exploring the languages of matter and three-dimensionality.
· Publishing and Academy: In 1981 he founded the important art and poetry magazine "Cervo Volante". Since 1995 he has been a member of the National Academy of San Luca as an academic in sculpture.
Participation in Events
· Venice Biennale: He participated in the 54th edition of the Venice Biennale in 2011, presenting the large sculpture titled "Upside-Down Sky". The work was exhibited at Palazzo Venezia for the Italian Pavilion curated by Vittorio Sgarbi.
· Rome Quadriennale: He was present at the XII Rome Quadriennale in 1996, where he exhibited the sculpture "Sky".
