A German solid silver Biedermeier teapot dating to circa 1830–1850, weighing 444 g with a 20 cm height, 22 cm width and 15 cm diameter, a capacity of about 1.5 litres, marked 13 Loth for 812‰ fineness, a four‑footed body, a lid hinged at 90°, and in excellent, professionally cleaned condition with no monograms.
Description from the seller
An elegant and authentic German Biedermeier teapot in solid silver, marked 13 Loth (≈812‰), dating to the first half of the 19th century (circa 1830–1850).
The teapot displays classic Biedermeier design: balanced proportions, restrained decoration, a four-footed body, and a distinctive lid hinge positioned at a 90° angle—characteristic of German-speaking silversmithing traditions of the period.
The base bears a “13” mark indicating the fineness according to the historical Loth system (13/16 silver content, equivalent to 812.5‰). The style and execution of the mark are consistent with authentic Central European assay practices of the time.
The piece is free from monograms or crests, enhancing its appeal for collectors and the wider market. It is in excellent condition and structurally sound; lid, spout and feet are all intact and well aligned.
