A contemporary talisman, vibrant with color and audacity. Lucky Dollar revisits the iconic US $2 bill to become a full-fledged work of art.
The obverse blasts into a chromatic storm where every brushstroke awakens the energy of pop and the rebellious spirit of street art. On the reverse, the Socrate graffiti, bursting on a fluorescent background, asserts a powerful urban presence.
Imprisoned in a plexiglass case, this bill becomes a manifesto, an object of desire.
To display on a desk, a design shelf, or at the heart of a contemporary art collection. Each Lucky Dollar is a promise: that art, itself, never loses value.
About the artist:
Originally from the Parisian suburbs, Socrate is an artist from the graffiti movement. She stages a highly contrasted universe by using the raw and immediate nature of graffiti. She elevates the strength and fragility of images, primarily the traits of femininity through intimate and glamorous depictions.
Socrate invites graffiti into the boudoir, thus mixing a discipline essentially masculine with the elegance and sensuality of feminine aesthetics. She has exhibited in several galleries around the world, alongside many renowned names such as Jonone, Orlinski, Onemizer, C215, Shepard Fairey, Banksy, Kev Munday.
