Launched in 1993, the MAJIK is an entry-level product in the range of the famous Scottish turntable manufacturer. 6 line inputs + a switchable phono input. There are two monitor loops for connecting two recorders (nostalgics of magnetic recording will appreciate).
The unit comes in a very compact chassis measuring 32 x 8 x 32 cm, made of aluminium and coated with a paint that dampens vibrations. The front panel features the minimum of controls, encouraging the user to use the very complete remote control supplied with the unit. Moreover, this face is equipped with a clearly readable display and a headphone jack. The amplifier/preamplifier sections are detachable as desired, allowing quite a few possibilities for evolution. If the power stage seems “light” (2 x 33 watts), it nevertheless can sustain a certain endurance with speakers of average efficiency.
