Mask / headdress "Tywara" African wooden mask of the Bambara people of Mali -
Its highly vertical expression form is akin to styles of northern Mali, in the Segou region.
It's a beautiful object with a gazelle stylized in a horizontal position.
Mask of rejoicing. This type of Bambara mask symbolizes an antelope synonymous with fertility and was worn to celebrate the end of good harvests.
This headdress is representative of Bambara art, with a balance between shapes and volumes with finely carved details.
This headdress is extremely stylized and this form may have inspired cubist painters at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
