Description from the seller

HIGHLIGHTS:
• Full restoration completed 6 years ago, retaining period-correct specifications.
• Body finished in Glacier Blue, with chrome wire wheels and whitewall tires.
• Engine completely rebuilt during the restoration, with only 5,000 miles covered since.
• Interior reupholstered in black, with steel-gray synthetic wool carpets and the original banjo-style steering wheel.

HISTORY/OVERVIEW:
The MG A MKII represents the final and most refined evolution of the iconic British sports car series produced by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) between 1955 and 1962. Introduced in 1961, the MKII variant featured subtle styling changes, such as a recessed front grille and horizontal rear lights beneath the trunk lid, along with an increase in displacement for its B-series four-cylinder engine.

This 1962 example underwent a full restoration six years ago. Since its refurbishment, it has seen limited use on short drives and has recently received a service and maintenance tune-up. The vehicle is located in Madrid, Spain.

BODY/PAINT:
The vehicle features Glacier Blue bodywork with an even gloss finish and no notable defects. It retains its MK2 1600 identification badges on the hood and trunk lid. The chrome components, including the front grille, bumpers with overriders, and luggage rack mounted on the trunk, are bright and well preserved. The exterior is complemented by mirrors mounted on the front wings, chrome wire wheels with knock-off spinners, and whitewall tires. The underside is in very good condition, with no visible rust.

INTERIOR:
The cabin retains its original seats, reupholstered during the restoration in black synthetic material with ribbed stitching and in excellent condition. Steel-gray synthetic wool carpets were fitted on the floor, matching the black door panels. The black dashboard incorporates the original Jaeger analog instrumentation, central MG logo, passenger-side glovebox, and a classic four-spoke banjo-style steering wheel. A safety fire extinguisher is also visible, mounted on the lower part of the bulkhead.

MECHANICAL:
The 1,600 cc engine was completely rebuilt during the vehicle's restoration and has covered approximately 5,000 miles since then. The engine starts and runs smoothly, paired with a manual gearbox that shifts smoothly. A slight, typical oil seepage for classic vehicles of this period is noted, with no direct leaks or drips reported. The car has just passed a full mechanical inspection.

DOCUMENTS:
Valid roadworthiness inspection and Spanish historic vehicle registration

The vehicle is available for inspection and collection in Madrid, Spain. The seller offers 20 days of covered storage after the sale. The buyer is responsible for arranging and covering the costs of transportation or shipping, transfer of ownership, and any applicable export fees or technical documentation.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
