Fine, atmospheric oil painting by the German painter Ludwig Hartmann, dated 1871. Depicted is a white horse in a calm pose before a rural setting with a building and loosely suggested vegetation. The work convinces with its atmospheric painting style and the distinctive, tonal application of color.
Oil on cardboard. Signed and dated “L. H. 1871” lower left.
The painting is in good condition. The decorative older frame shows signs of age-related wear and minor flaking. Photos are part of the condition description.
