Example of bronze manufacture in African art; such Leuche Rikar bronze is finely decorated with geometric motifs but also with a human character on the upper part. The Fikar are a pygmy people found in western Cameroon. The Tikar people are a relatively new, mixed population, traditionally expansionist. They submit to the system of traditional chieftainships, embedded within larger historical kingdoms. Their settlement is attested on Cameroonian soil since the 19th century.
