Description from the seller

Large Metal Lockheed Super Constellation Model
Dimensions: 30x34x50cm

About the Lockheed Super Constellation

The Super Constellation was essentially a larger, updated version of Lockheed's groundbreaking Constellation airliner.

The Super Constellation was designed as a response to the success of the Douglas DC-6B, as the latter could carry 23 more passengers than the Constellation. To compete, Lockheed extended the fuselage of the Constellation by 18 feet and implemented additional modifications. These adjustments resulted in an aircraft with identical performance to the Douglas, but with the capacity to carry a larger payload.

The Super Constellation first flew in 1951. As well as producing a successful airliner and freight aircraft, Lockheed also supplied versions for both the United States Navy and U.S. Air Force.
