Description from the seller
Rare Ernemann Tropen-Klapp (Tropical) – Teak & Brass Case – Early 20th Century
Exceptional exemplar of the Ernemann Tropen-Klapp camera, a masterpiece of German engineering from the 1900s-1910s.
Designed specifically to withstand extreme climates, this "Tropical" model is one of the most sought-after pieces by antique camera collectors.
Manufacturer: Ernemann (Dresden, Germany).
Materials: High-quality polished teak wood body, fittings and reinforcements in solid brass.
Lens: Equipped with a rare French optic: "Anastigmat Dissymétrique Lucidior" (H. Duf-Louch-Dauphin Bté S.G.D.G. Paris), Series II f:5.8 / 180mm.
Viewfinder: Original folding erecting viewfinder on top.
Aesthetic condition: Very good state of preservation. The wood shows a magnificent patina and the brass elements are well preserved.
Mechanical condition: The "Klapp" (clamshell/flip) mechanism deploys correctly. The plate shutter is functional (to be checked for perfect accuracy).
Unlike the standard black leather models, the Teak Tropical version is an absolute rarity.
It is as much a precision instrument as a luxurious decorative object. Its sturdy construction and elegant design make it a centerpiece for any prestige collection.
