Description from the seller
Photobook "Essential Elements" by Edward Burtynsky (2016)
with introduction from William A. Ewing.
"Essential Elements" photobook is a look at the work of photographer Edward Burtynsky over four decades through his most emblematic images, as well as some previously unpublished ones. Unlike his previous publications, this book is not based on single-themed projects. Its flexible structure is organized into five independent sections that combine and contrast works from throughout his career. This original approach allows the reader to fully immerse themselves in his visual language and his analysis of the problems facing our globalized world. Each section is delimited by a selection of texts that, together with the images, promote the understanding of their particular way of seeing the world.
Edward Burtynsky is a Canadian photographer and author of the books Water (2013), Oil (2009), Quarries (2007), and China (2005), among others, published by Steidl, and Manufactured Landscapes (2003), published by Yale University Press. He has received numerous awards, including the TED Prize, the Outreach Award from Les Rencontres d'Arles, the Roloff Beny Book Award, and the Rogers Award for Best Canadian Film.
