Description from the seller

Set of 12 Art Deco Forks – G. Leblond Nîmes – Handles in Natural Horn – France, circa 1930

Description of the Item

Masterpiece of High French Cutlery

Up for auction is a complete service of 12 cake and dessert forks (length 16.5 cm), an excellent testimony to French elegance of the 1930s. The set bears the signature of the prestigious goldsmith and silversmith G. Leblond, historic Coutelier-Orfèvre of Nîmes (Rue Général Perrier), synonymous with elite artisanal quality.

The item comes from a private collection and this is the first time it is being offered on the market.

Materials and Aesthetic Characteristics

Handles in Natural Horn: Made from premium authentic horn, the handles display a natural color range from deep brown to golden bronze. The grain is rich with organic veins and translucent hues, unique to each piece.

Art Deco Design: The rims are finely worked with the era’s classic fan motif. The neck of the utensil features a refined tortile line that joins the handle to the tines. The functional design includes a reinforced lateral spine, specific for easily cutting cakes.

Authenticity Guarantee

The material of the handles has been carefully tested:

Thermal Test (Needle): Positive, confirms natural organic origin.

UV Light: Positive fluorescence reaction (the material responds to a Wood lamp), definitive proof distinguishing horn from plastic or Bakelite imitations.

Condition

The set is intact and in superb condition. It is housed in its original period presentation case, with ivory-colored silk and satin interiors and the manufacturer’s gilded mark.
