Description from the seller

Refined "Sutherland" Victorian Walnut Burl Table with Boxwood Inlays – 19th Century
Lot Description: magnificent living room table from the Victorian era, model "Sutherland", characterized by an extremely elegant space-saving design. The top, with softly rounded edges, is entirely veneered in exquisite walnut burl, selected to create a mirror-like display of natural grains of extraordinary visual beauty.
Manufacturing Details: the table stands out for the richness of the wood inlays in boxwood (marquetry). In the center and at the four corners of the top lie floral motifs in the form of tendrils and arabesques, finely incised. A double inlaid filet runs along the entire perimeter, framing the rich figure of the burl.
Structure and Supports: the base is a masterpiece of turning. It rests on two main turned-column supports, joined by a central carved cross member. When the wings are raised, the top is supported by two additional "gate-leg" feet that open smoothly. Everything ends on curved feet with their original ceramic/brass casters, typical of the era, which facilitate moving it.
Technical Sheet
Era: Second half of the 19th century (circa 1870/1880).
Style: Victorian / Eclectic.
Materials: Solid walnut frame, top in walnut burl, inlays in boxwood.
Condition: Very good. The piece retains its original patina. There are small signs of aging and use on the surface (slight opacities in the varnish and light superficial scratches) that attest to its authenticity and do not affect its value. The hinges and opening mechanism are fully functional.
Origin: Family heritage (Italy).
Height: about 70 cm.
Width (closed): about 15 cm.
Width (open): about 105 cm.
Depth: about 90 cm.
Shipping and Professional Packaging: to ensure the furniture’s integrity during transport, shipping will be handled by Mail Boxes Etc. (MBE). The table will be protected with a custom-made packaging, high-strength bubble wrap, and a reinforced cardboard crate (or pallet protection). The shipment will be fully tracked and insured for the entire final auction value. In this way, the buyer will receive the piece in total safety.
