Poltronova Gherpe table lamp in white acrylic by Superstudio, made in Italy in the 1970s, model Gherpe, 53 x 31 x 38 cm, about 10 kg, in excellent used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
Splendid and rare Gherpe lamp by Poltronova in white acrylic (polymethyl methacrylate), first production from the 1970s.
The Gherpe table lamp was designed in 1967 by the group of architects and designers Superstudio (Adolfo Natalini and Cristiano Toraldo di Francia) for the Poltronova company.
This table lamp breaks away from the schemes of traditional lamps, both in form and in the material used.
The Superstudio of Florence, founded in 1966 by the architects Adolfo Natalini and Cristiano Toraldo di Francia, ranks among the most acclaimed and influential groups of Radical Design. Later, Roberto Magris, Alessandro Magris, Gianpiero Frassinelli and Alessandro Poli joined. In the realm of furnishings, Superstudio produced visionary furniture including chairs, sofas, stools, desks, tables and accessories, such as Zanotta's Quaderna collection and Poltronova's Sofo seating.
Dimensions
L.53 cm - P. 31 cm - H. 38 cm
The lamp in question is a rare early production from the 1970s, not to be confused with newer productions.
An object and historic icon of Italian design, it is increasingly sought after.
Lamp fully functional with its original plug from the period, glorious patina even on the metal.
If shipping is required, it will be carefully packaged and the price includes insurance.
