Sumatra amber (Glessit), Neogene fossil resin, single piece weighing about 13 g (≈65 carats) from Sumatra, with blue fluorescence under UV light and scientifically documented authenticity from Warsaw in 2014.
Description from the seller
● Sumatra‑Bernstein (Glessit) – ca. 65 Karat – blue fluorescence – scientifically documented (Warsaw 2014)
Note in advance: Through complete scientific documentation and the unequivocal assignment to a tested batch, the buyer receives a clearly identifiable, rare and collectible individual piece that, in this form, appears on the market comparatively infrequently.
● Description:
Offered is an exceptional piece of Sumatra‑amber (Glessite) weighing about 13 g (≈ 65 carats) and an impressive size of about 4.5 × 2.5 cm. The piece exhibits blue fluorescence under UV light – a rare, natural authenticity feature that occurs only in a small portion of the fossil resins from the Neogene layers of Sumatra's Miocene.
Under normal light, clearly visible structures of fossil wood can also be seen. These textures are typical for resins from the Dipterocarpaceae family of trees, from whose fossil resins Sumatra‑amber formed millions of years ago.
This specimen comes from a batch that was scientifically studied in 2014 in Warsaw (Poland). The analysis was conducted at the Polish Academy of Sciences – Museum of the Earth in Warsaw, one of the world’s leading institutions for the study of fossil resins. The examination was performed using infrared spectroscopy (IRS) – the internationally recognized standard method for the definitive identification of fossil resins.
The analysis was carried out by Prof. Dr. hab. Barbara Kosmowska‑Ceranowicz, one of the world’s most renowned amber experts and long‑time specialist of the International Amber Association. The IRS spectra clearly confirmed that the examined samples originated from the same batch:
• from Neogene sediments (ca. 20–40 million years old)
• formed from fossil resin of Dipterocarpaceae
• clearly assignable to the Glessite group
The scientific evaluation report will be provided to the buyer in paper form as an authentic quality certificate. This report documents origin, age, botanical assignment and the scientific methodology applied.
The additional backlit photo in the gallery reveals the deep red and orange areas as well as the glowing yellow zones of the fossil resin and shows the inner structure of the Glessit in impressive clarity.
Beyond the obvious collector’s features, the exceptional material quality of this premium Glessit also opens the possibility of professional processing into very high‑quality jewelry.
● Highlights of this piece:
• Strong blue fluorescence – rare, natural authenticity feature
• Glessit type – scientifically documented assignment to fossil resins of Dipterocarpaceae
• Age: ca. 20–40 million years
• Clearly visible fossil wood structures
• Unique piece weighing ca. 65 carats and measuring 4.5 × 2.5 cm
• Scientifically documented batch (2014)
• An analysis by one of the world’s leading amber experts
• Copy of the certificate included
● Origin & Credibility:
The piece comes from the inventory of a formally registered dealer in Germany who has been active in the gem and fossil trade for many years. High customer satisfaction is demonstrably supported by numerous documented customer surveys. The batch from which this piece originates was spot‑checked in a laboratory in Warsaw, thereby scientifically securing the authenticity of the entire shipment.
● Value & Rarity:
Blue‑fluorescent Sumatra‑amber has been highly sought after for years due to its natural rarity and has already commanded significantly higher prices on the collector market than ordinary Sumatra‑amber without fluorescence.
● Conclusion:
Sumatra‑amber with blue fluorescence, visible wood structure, scientific documentation, collectible size, and about 65 carats in weight is exceptionally rare on the market. The combination of:
• Size (4.5 × 2.5 cm)
• Weight (≈ 65 ct)
• Fluorescence
• Glessit type
• scientific analysis
• proven origin
renders this piece a comparatively rare collector’s item that stands out clearly from standard rough material.
Anzeige number (for internal seller purposes only): CAT9
