Rare Saxon Glass Flute with Bandelwerk Engraving and Monogram, Dresden, c. 1720

Origin: Saxony, Dresden (Germany).
Date: Circa 1720–1730 (Early Baroque / Regency period).
Material: Colorless glass, blown and hand-engraved.
Form: A tall, slender conical bowl (Flöte) resting on a multi-staged stem with a cut baluster element. The base is a wide, slightly high-domed circular foot with a polished pontil mark.
Decoration: Exquisite copper-wheel engraving featuring "Bandelwerk" (ribbon-work) and foliate scrolls. The central medallion showcases a finely detailed coat of arms or a stylized monogram (intertwined initials), indicating a bespoke commission. The lower part of the bowl features vertical lens-cut facets.
Condition: Excellent museum-grade condition. No chips, cracks, or restorations. The glass remains clear with no signs of sickness.
Dimensions: 5,5/12/18 cm
