La Grèce, a hardcover photograph book by René Burri, first edition published in 1974 in French by SNEP, 128 pages, with 30 full-page colour photographs and 90 small photographs pasted into the book, signed on the title page, in very good condition.
Description from the seller
Unique and unobtainable elsewhere on the internet, this copy is dedicated and signed on the title page by René Burri (1933 – 2014). 128 pages, 30 full-page color photographs outside the text and 90 small-format photographs (6.5 cm x 9 cm) glued to the pages of the book. Publisher’s cloth binding, illustrated cover and dust jacket.
Published in 1974 when René Burri had already published famous books ( Die Deutschen, 1962 and Les Allemands, Delpire, 1963) and had become a member of Magnum since 1959, this book represents a testimony to a new form of photographic publishing. Indeed, the 90 small-format photographs were to be collected with chocolate bars to be glued into the book, which was also sold by the brand of chocolate, probably Swiss, as there exists another example with another Swiss photographer, Hans Silvester. This form of publishing testifies to the advertising intellect in the choice of photographers as well as to the editorial “diet” (so to speak) that photographers must undertake.
Very good copy with slight wear to the cover and a few visible spots of glue used to attach the photographs. A personal collection book kept with the greatest care. Protected shipping with reinforced packaging and guaranteed international tracked delivery. For multiple purchases, possibility of grouped shipping with refund of any overpaid postage via Paypal.
