Benchy bench is an exploration of textures.
Through the use of today’s carving tools, Marco Calhau has created a language that intersects sculpture and furniture.
Inspired by surfboards, human textures and Paleolithic flint stones, Benchy is a two-seated bench that aims to invite you to wait, relax, observe, but keep you in an active-relaxed mood.
The flat surfaces of the vegetable-based oiled beech timber are interrupted by the large rounded shapes of the cushions, which give a more comfortable place to sit; two magnetic pillows/armrests have been projected to let the user use it as a place to write, draw or just place his hand.

This product can be custom-made; dimensions, finish, upholstery, and wood type can be customized.
