A beautiful and very complete antique Sikes hydrometer, manufactured by the renowned instrument maker T.O. Buss of London (based at 49 Mount Pleasant, WC1).
This type of instrument was the official standard for the British customs and excise (HM Customs & Excise) to measure the alcohol content in distilled spirits. A splendid piece of scientific history, perfect for collectors of antique instrumentation or enthusiasts of (whisky) history.
Box: Original mahogany case with the authentic velvet lining.
Complete set of numbered weights (serial number 1142) and original thermometer.

The hydrometer will be very well packed, sent by registered mail and insured with a track and trace code.
