TippCo - Toy train - 1940-1950 - Germany

Tipp & Co. tin toy train set with box, tracks and key, from the postwar U.S. Zone in Germany, ca. 1945-1950

The set features the round Tippco logo with the interlocking letters visible on the set. On the box and on at least one wagon it clearly says “Made in Germany U.S. Zone.” This makes this set interesting for collectors of early postwar German tin toy figures.

The set consists of:
• 1 clockwork locomotive
• 1 tender
• 3 wagons/rolling stock
• multiple straight tracks
• original wind-up key
• original box
• old instruction sheet

The lithography is attractive and classic, with nice green carriages, black locomotive and red wheel accents. It is precisely that early postwar version, together with the original box, that gives the set a lot of charm and collectability.

Condition:
In neat vintage condition with visible signs of use appropriate for age and use.
The box shows clear wear, nicks and edge damage.
The train parts show light paint wear, scratches and signs of aging.
Important: the locomotive has a small piece coming loose from the top, as visible in the photos. This is explicitly noted and is incorporated in the description.
Furthermore, the set looks well cared for and decorative, with a nice presentation for display case, collection or gauge 0 display.
