Description from the seller
GENERAL:
The 1983 Austin Mini Special in Champagne Beige offers a rare opportunity to acquire a fully “body-off” restored specimen. This Mini has been expertly restored according to the nut-and-bolt principle and is in exceptionally beautiful condition.
The car was delivered new to its first owner in the Netherlands on June 1, 1983. After around 40 years of use, the last owner had the Mini completely restored, bringing the car to mint condition with meticulous attention to detail and preservation of originality. As a result, this Mini is one of the finest examples currently available.
During the restoration, subframes were powder-coated, lines were renewed, and the engine and gearbox were rebuilt. In combination with the new 2K paint, the 10-inch Cooper S wheels, and various high-quality details, virtually every component was addressed or renewed. The car is in a rare condition: completely rust-free, damage-free, and exceptionally well maintained.
BODYWORK & PAINT:
The body is finished in the original Champagne Beige and is in very neat condition. The car features new chrome bumpers, a new grille, and various chrome details, all in excellent condition.
The Mini is equipped with original Lucas headlights with accompanying rings and amber indicator lenses. In addition, the original badges, logos, and Austin Mini decals have been preserved, contributing to the authentic character of the car.
Furthermore, the car rides on 10-inch Cooper S wheels with new tires, and the original glass remains clear. During the restoration, the exhaust system, window and door rubbers, moldings, and windscreen wipers were renewed.
Also replaced were the front and rear subframes, powder-coated in Caramel Beige, as well as the fuel tank. During the restoration, new doors, a new front end, and new sills were also fitted. The body was fully blasted and rebuilt with three layers of 2K paint.
TECHNICAL:
Technically, the car was fully rebuilt in 2023. The original 998cc Austin Mini engine was retained and remains in excellent condition together with the rebuilt gearbox.
Numerous essential parts were renewed, including the brake cylinders, clutch cylinders, brake linings, brake lines, brake cables, and throttle cable. Additionally, the engine features lead-free valve seats, a new head gasket, a new water pump, and an oil pump. The timing belt (V-belt) and spark plugs were also replaced, and the ignition has been re-tuned.
The cooling system was refreshed with a new radiator and hoses. The speedometer cable has been replaced but still needs to be connected. The original speedometer driving gear is present but does not always function correctly.
The brakes have been fully inspected and renewed where necessary. The car also received a major service in October 2025, with fresh oil.
The underbody and chassis are rust-free and finished in body colour. The subframes are in new condition and powder-coated, and all suspension bushings have been renewed throughout.
INTERIOR:
The interior is finished in an original tan/cream checked fabric and is used but in neat condition. The car features original brown door panels and an original brown carpet set.
The dashboard features the characteristic “egg shape” design with a 3-clock instrument cluster and a central “egg” gauge. The headlining has been renewed and is finished in beige.
In addition, the Mini is equipped with a stylish walnut steering wheel with stainless steel accents and a matching walnut gear knob. A new matting set has also been installed, while the original sun visors and seat belts have been kept.
DOCUMENTS:
The car comes with a full restoration report detailing the work performed. In addition, the Mini is supplied with the original instruction manual and an appraisal certificate.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
