Description from the seller
The Philips CD 372, released in 1988, is a vintage compact CD player that is well known among collectors and audiophiles for its excellent sound quality, in part thanks to the iconic internal component. This was from my grandfather who worked at Philips.
Key Features & Technology
The CD 372 is especially loved for the combination of a high-quality DAC and a robust transport mechanism:
DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter): The device contains the famous TDA1541 (or TDA1541A) chip. This chip is praised for its warm, analog, natural sound, often compared to the sound of vinyl.
Transport: The player is equipped with a reliable swing-arm transport, usually the CDM-2 or CDM-4/11. This type of mechanism is known for its long lifespan and its ability to read even damaged CDs well.
Main Controls
ON/OFF (1): Turns the player on or off.
OPEN/CLOSE (11): Use this to open and close the CD tray.
PLAY/REPLAY (7): Start playback. If the track is already playing, pressing this button returns to the beginning of the track.
STOP/CM (8): Stops playback. The letters 'CM' stand for 'Clear Memory', which clears a programmed list.
TRACK/TIME (10): Switches on the display between the track number and the elapsed playback time.
SEARCH (Forward/Backward): Hold these keys to fast-forward or rewind through a track.
REPEAT (12): Repeats the entire CD or a programmed sequence of tracks.
PROGRAM (14): Allows you to store track numbers in memory to play them in a specific order.
Dimensions 32cm x 29cm x 8 cm
