Description from the seller

A bronze elephant bursting from its chains — full of force, full of movement. Attributed to the Belgian sculptor Silvain Norga (1892–1972), this is a piece with real presence. Not a quiet study of an animal at rest, but a moment of raw power frozen in bronze.

The elephant charges forward, muscles tight, trunk up, tusks out. You can see the chains along the body, snapping under the pressure. The whole composition pulls you in — there's tension in every detail, from the folds in the skin to the strain in the limbs. It's the kind of sculpture that stops you when you walk past it.

The patina is a warm brown with golden highlights on the tusks and trunk — untouched, no modern cleaning, just honest age. The casting is hollow (you can see it from the back), and the surface detail is sharp throughout. The bronze sits on a decorative plate with leaf and floral motifs in relief, which connects it to a green veined marble base — likely Verde Antico.

Silvain Norga worked out of Antwerp and was known for his animal bronzes — dynamic, muscular, always full of life. He was active from the 1920s into the post-war years. This piece fits his style and subject matter well. No signature has been found on the sculpture; the attribution is based on style and provenance.

**Condition: Good**
The bronze is in good overall condition consistent with its age. The original patina is substantially intact with no visible modern cleaning or restoration. No structural damage, cracks, or casting flaws observed. The chains and all sculptural elements are complete. The marble base shows natural surface variation and age-appropriate wear but no chips or repairs.

**Measurements:** Height: 30 cm, Width: 25 cm, Depth: 8 cm.
**Weight:** 3,300 gm.

**Shipping:** Medium package (max 5 kg, max 80x50x35 cm). Will be securely wrapped with bubble wrap and foam padding, placed in a reinforced cardboard box with corner protection.
