Splendid matrimoniale silk brocade bedspread in cotton, loom-checked piquet weaving

The piquet weaving is a process that creates fabrics with raised relief designs, obtained through a special weaving that uses a double weft or raised threads. It is achieved by creating a relief structure through a two-weft weave that gives thickness and a material feel to the fabric. In terms of exact dimensions, it is 198 cm long and 184 cm wide, with a fringe added, made with a double cotton of 8 cm.

Beautiful to use with a single-colored bedspread reaching the floor and on top of this.

A bedspread different from the usual ones since it is all one workmanship.

In the center a rectangular rose window with flowers woven on the four sides and a decoration that echoes the floral motif on the three sides that descend to the sides and on the band that covers the pillow.

It is all one large embroidery and this gives the particular value to the object. In this part the flowers are denser and smaller.

The flower embroidery is present on all parts, including the corners, while on the straight side of the pillow there is a line with diamonds.

It has always been used with the utmost care and it is part of my family’s ensemble of bedspreads that I am selling due to multiplicity.

Although a bedspread of over a century old, it shows no stains or marks, except those of time.

Note that it is a used and washed item.
