AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Hearth screen with a hunting tableau – “Their First Lesson” – ca. 1900 - Antique Brass

Atmospheric antique brass hearth screen, featuring a rich relief of hunting dogs and puppies in a landscape. At the bottom bearing the title “Their First Lesson,” a characteristic and narrative scene from the late 19th century in which training and hunting are central. Based on the English title and the depicted dogs, which strongly resemble a pointer, a typical British hunting dog, British origin seems likely. This fits well with the popularity of this type of hunting scenes in England around the turn of the century.
The combination of the detailed relief and the hammered edge gives the piece a powerful, artisanal appearance. The warm patina enhances the overall effect and provides an authentic vintage look that suits both a classic and a more modern interior.
Originally designed as a spark screen for the fireplace.

In good, used condition with signs of age and wear, appropriate to its age.

Important:
