Thomas Ruff - Nudes - 2003

In this book, Thomas Ruff turns to a theme that, while often treated as scandalous by the media, has also received the highest recognition in the art world. In *Nudes*, he focuses on pornography, using stills taken from pornographic scenes found on the internet. He then processes these images electronically, enlarging them to monumental scale and altering them through digital coloring and blurring. The resulting pictures are at once graphic and abstract, creating a striking tension between explicit subject matter and formal experimentation. The book is accompanied by an excerpt from a forthcoming novel by the controversial French writer Michel Houellebecq.
