Pair of mid-century modern brass and teak chandeliers from France, dating to estimated period 1930–1940, in good condition with light wear and age-related stains.
Description from the seller
A magnificent pair of chandeliers that embody the Modernist aesthetic inherited from the Bauhaus movement. Lovely pieces of geometric design structured by a perfect balance between metal and wood.
Design and Composition:
The structure rests on a massive rectangular wooden base whose density ensures perfect stability. The central element is a gilded brass arch with a flat-section, whose rigorous curve supports two vertical shafts.
The visual accent is placed on the central wooden sphere, a typical element of the Art Deco repertoire, which serves as the aesthetic anchor point of the composition. The bobeches, cut in a chalice shape in finely grained wood, are designed to receive standard taper candles.
Technical Details:
- Style: Modernist / Art Deco.
- Materials: Polished brass and hardwood (teak finish).
- Signature: Cold-stamped "302" under each base, guaranteeing a manufactured, numbered mid-century production.
- Era: Circa 1950.
- Configuration: Paired double-light (4 candles in total).
Condition:
- Authenticity: 100% original pieces, no parts replaced.
- Condition: Excellent; the brass retains its luster without deep oxidation. The wood shows an even satin patina. The lower fittings by square-era nuts are intact and functional.
