Description from the seller
Old icon depicting three saints - Southern Europe - 1836
Icon painted on a wooden panel, showing three standing, aureoled saints arranged facing forward on a green background.
On the left, a saint holding an open book (probably a gospel lectionary or sacred text), identifiable as an apostle or evangelist.
In the center, a pilgrim saint holding a staff, wearing a brown cloak, accompanied by a dog with a loaf of bread in its mouth, and showing a wound on the leg: this is Saint Roch.
On the right, a saint in military attire, holding a cross and a palm of martyrdom, clearly identifiable as Saint George.
A partially legible inscription painted along the lower part mentions the names of the saints: “S. N… S. RO… S. GIORGIO MART…”, confirming the presence of Saint Roch and Saint George.
Tempera painting on a wooden panel.
Visible wear to the paint layer, cracks, small losses. Condition consistent with age.
The photos are an integral part of the description of the objects and complement its presentation. They allow one to assess its condition and features. Please inspect them carefully before any commitment.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped with a tracking number to ensure fast and secure delivery.
