Description from the seller
Important Solid Silver Box 925 – Weight 607g – Fully Engraved – No wood inserts – Italy, 1970s/1980s
Description
Rarity and Build Quality
Up for auction is an exceptionally precious and substantial specimen: a large rectangular box in Sterling Silver 925.
The exclusive strong point of this lot, which sets it apart from standard production, is its construction: the item has NO wood inserts, mirrors, or interior coverings. It is made entirely and exclusively of solid silver in every part. This feature is highly sought after by collectors, as the total weight of 607 grams is composed solely of precious metal.
Period and Manufacture
The item dates to the second half of the 20th century (circa 1970–1980). The hallmarks present (925 fineness and a factory mark with a star) identify an Italian production of excellence following the 1968 reform, coming from the renowned Tuscan goldsmith districts.
Design and Craftsmanship
The lid features superb engraving work with motifs of volutes and acanthus leaves. The decoration is extremely detailed and covers the entire top surface, creating a refined play of light and shadow. The side walls are smooth and mirror-polished, emphasizing the clarity of lines and the solidity of the silver.
Technical Data
Material: Sterling Silver 925 (hallmarked).
Total Weight: 607 grams (all solid silver).
Dimensions: 20 cm x 15 cm x 4 cm.
Condition: Excellent overall condition. The structure is solid, the hinge functions perfectly and is aligned. It shows only the natural patina of time that guarantees its originality.
