Description from the seller
Artistic Crucifix in Veneto Ceramics - Handcrafted and Hand-Painted - Unique and Textural Design - 17 x 10 cm
An fascinating artistic crucifix in ceramic, a piece that merges the tradition of Veneto ceramics with a strong material and sculptural expression. This is not a mass-produced object, but a work entirely handmade, visible in its irregular shapes and the lived texture that make it a unique item.
Material and Design Details:
Origin and Technique: Authentic Veneto tableware ceramic, hand modeled. The special feature lies in the finish that simulates ancient stone, with a striking chromatic alternation between verdigris green (characteristic of copper oxidations) and terracotta/ochre red, almost evoking an object recovered from ancient times.
Corpus (Body of Christ): The figure of Christ is stylized, textural, and painted white with blue details on the loincloth, emerging strongly from the dark, porous background of the cross. The crown of thorns is made with a green material circle. The stance is expressive and dolorous, typical of popular devotion.
INRI Cartouche: Above Christ’s head there is a white ceramic cartouche with the inscription "INRI" carved and hand-painted.
Finishes: The base of the cross features a decorative knot echoing an architectural element, and the upper part is equipped with two holes ready for inserting a ribbon or cord to hang the object.
Technical Features:
Dimensions: Length 17 cm, Width 10 cm.
Material: Glazed and patinated ceramic, fired at high temperature.
Condition:
The piece is presented in excellent vintage condition. The glaze is bright and the patina is intact. As with any handcrafted item, small irregularities in the ceramic or asymmetries in the decoration should be regarded as evidence of the handmade creation process and not as a defect.
A piece of rare material intensity, perfect for someone seeking a sacred art object that is not only devotional but also a true rustic and original design element. Ideal for embellishing studies, bookcases, or as a unique piece in a collection of regional artistic ceramics.
Shipping: Meticulously and professionally packed with cushioning materials to ensure the ceramic arrives intact. Tracked and fast shipping.
