Description from the seller

A Chinese faceted amber glass snuff bottle, of octagonal form, crafted from translucent, deep amber colored glass. The body features crisp, faceted geometric planes that taper toward a flat oval base and a short, cylindrical neck. Topped with a domed green jadeite stopper, fitted with a cork and a slender brass measuring spoon. The glass displays naturalistic internal variations and swirling common to the period. Qing dynasty, 19th century.

Measurements: H: 7.3 x W: 4.3 x D: 2.6 cm.
Condition: Excellent, with minor surface wear consistent with age and use. Sharp edges remain well-defined.
Provenance: From an old French private collection, ex. Robert Hall Sale 1990 by repute.

This 19th-century glass snuff bottle mimics rare amber, a highly prized "simulated" material. Its octagonal shape references the Taoist Bagua (Eight Trigrams), symbolizing cosmic balance and protection for the owner.
