Description from the seller
Refined oval jewelry box in silvered metal, embossed and chased, from the late 19th – early 20th century, Italian production.
Suggestive, beautiful in form and appearance, made of silvered metal, it presents itself richly worked in repoussé and chased.
The lid is stunning, featuring a vivid narrative relief depicting a horse-drawn chariot at full gallop, driven by a male figure, while three female figures on foot further animate the composition against a backdrop of urban architecture.
The edge is elegantly decorated with vegetal motifs meticulously crafted, of notable charm and appeal.
The body is finely adorned with foliate scrolls and continuous floral motifs; it also features grapevine motifs executed with excellent depth. The jewelry box has an original locking mechanism and is lockable.
The charming key is decorated. The interior lined in red fabric, with signs of wear consistent with age.
