Subject by Joachim Kändler, 1735/1775. Jester with a pug, a very rare subject from the German Maissen manufactory. At the base there are no signatures, also because sculptures from the 1740s/50s of the eighteenth century were often not marked with the two crossed swords, so the base shows no mark; however, research conducted on these sculptures indicates that unmarked subjects are quite common. The sculpture is in good condition and has been cleaned of the coarse patina that still exists in a small part, specifically near the feet of the subject in question.
Comes from my private collection.
