Wooden, gilded architectural ornament of Italian origin, estimated to be from 1850–1900, 58 cm high with a 20 × 13 cm base, in good used condition with minor age-related marks and stains.
Description from the seller
Elegant gilded wooden architectural ornament, attributable to Italian production of the eighteenth century, probably originally part of an ecclesiastical candelabrum or a high-quality liturgical furnishing. The object presents a slender, harmonious structure, characterized by a refined vertical development enriched by hand-carved decorative motifs. The composition is distinguished by sinuous volutes, stylized phytomorphic elements, and ornamental details that recall the mature Baroque taste typical of Italian 18th-century manufactories. The summit, shaped to house an upper element (likely a candle or an arm), confirms its original religious function.
The gilding, now patinated by time, yields a warm, lived-in surface, with fascinating traces of wear consistent with the work’s age, testifying to its authenticity and history. The object is indeed completely original, never restored, preserving its material and antique character, a trait particularly valued in collecting.
The substantial proportions (height 58 cm, base 20 x 13 cm) give it a strong visual presence, making it an ideal architectural ornament to be placed in classical, eclectic, or antique-inspired settings. Perfect as a decorative element on a console, sideboard, or in display contexts where its historic elegance can be fully expressed.
An authentic artifact rich in charm, capable of evoking period atmospheres and enhancing any environment with a touch of history and Italian craftsmanship.
Adequate packaging and traceable shipping across Europe.
