Description from the seller
René Lalique (1860-1945) Exceptional Centerpiece 'Marguerites' (Marguerites) Colorless Crystal, Molded, Satin and Polished Signed 'Lalique France'
This magnificent centerpiece, named 'Marguerites', is a work that eloquently bears witness to René Lalique's creative genius and to the excellence upheld by Lalique France. Placed within the flourishing period of French Art Deco in the 1920s, this model, created in 1941, reinvents nature with characteristic sophistication and geometry.
The piece captures the essence of a delicate bloom, where a profusion of daisies and buds organizes into a perfectly balanced circular composition. Lalique’s magic operates through the striking contrast of textures: the floral motifs are executed in satin crystal, a process that confers the petals with a soft opalescence and a silky matte finish, subtly highlighting their volume with ethereal finesse. This matte texture echoes the radiant transparency of the base and edges, which, perfectly polished, catch and refract the light, creating a spellbinding dialogue between shadow and clarity.
Although this exemplar is posthumous to René Lalique's personal period of creation, it was produced according to the rigorous standards and historical know-how of the crystal house, guaranteeing absolute fidelity to the original drawing.
References and Condition Model listed in Félix Marcilhac’s catalogue raisonné, René Lalique – Catalogue Raisonné of the Glass Work, Les Éditions de l’Amateur, under number 10-404.
This work is in remarkable condition, almost like new, with a tiny micro-scratch easily repairable but not visible as shown in the images. It is free of major defects such as large chips, cracks, or restorations. The crystal polish retains its original brilliance and the satin finish is intact. The base is engraved with the authentic signature 'Lalique France'.
This is a premier acquisition, as this centerpiece is far more than a functional object; it is a true luminous sculpture, capable of adding a touch of timeless elegance and the history of French decorative arts to any prestigious interior.
Images are part of the description, with minimal micro-scratches. It is a very heavy object, delivery to a pickup point. You participate only in a small portion of the shipping costs.
