Originating from Vatican City, the lot is titled Bell'insieme di francobolli su busta, alcune filateliche. Quarta parte dal 1/2/52 in poi, and is for postage use.
Description from the seller
For a better understanding of the lot it is advisable to read in advance the explanatory note in the last photo.
A total of over 60 correspondences distributed as follows:
For Italy over twenty of which 8 in tariff and 9 FDC
For abroad over forty of which 26 in tariff and 2 FDC
Although predominantly illustrated postcards with five words or inscriptions, of lesser interest, there are several notable pieces among which the following are cited:
S.153 isolated (Caledonia 100 lire) on a cover in the 4-port tariff for Italy
Aerogramme for the island of Mauritius (good destination) with beautiful franking even though overpaid by 5 lire, signed Ray
Editorial stamped item recommended for domestic use, in the exact, specific and uncommon rate for publishers, already interesting in itself (also for the mixed PO/Tax franking) and moreover in postal fraud for the addition of epistolary annotations (a piece of high interest for collectors of Vatican postal history)
The sheet 1 on a traveled cover (not in tariff, but difficult to find)
Various nice cancellations with the commemoratives of the ’52 year also signed
The fine Exs of the Basiliche series also in late use.
As a curiosity, note the charming “booklet” postcard published for the Holy Year ’50, but mailed in ’60 with exact mixed Italy-Vatican franking, only the latter cancelled.
The catalogue value is not easily calculable due to the lack of bibliography, but it should be around €6,000–€8,000.
