Miniature roll-top desk / tambour bureau (“papeleira”) – wood – late 19th century

Elegant miniature roll-top desk (tambour bureau), also known as a small “papeleira”, crafted in wood and featuring a classic curved sliding tambour front.

The tambour opens smoothly to reveal a fitted interior with compartments, shelves, and a small drawer, designed for storing papers and writing accessories. The lower section includes an additional drawer with key escutcheon.

A fine example of traditional craftsmanship, likely made as a functional miniature or apprentice piece, demonstrating cabinetmaking techniques such as curved construction and tambour mechanism.

The piece displays a warm honey-colored patina and attractive proportions, making it both decorative and collectible.

Condition: good overall condition, with age-related wear and minor marks
