Description from the seller
MARCO ZANUSO
Edited by François Burkhardt
Collana directed by Andrea branzi
Marco Zanuso represented a fundamental figure for the birth of modern design, distinguished by the ability to unite the creative vision of an architect with the technical precision of industrial engineering. His career was characterized by constant experimentation with materials and production technologies that allowed everyday objects to be transformed into truly timeless icons.
Through the historic collaboration with companies such as Arflex and Brionvega, Zanuso introduced radical innovations such as the use of foam rubber and elastic tape for the famous Lady chair or the creation of plastic and colorful volumes for electronic devices that became legendary. Together with Richard Sapper he then redefined the aesthetics of domestic technology, designing the Cube Radio and the Algol television, objects that managed to combine extreme functionality with playful and appealing design.
In addition to successes in the design field, which earned him numerous Compasso d’Oro awards and the permanent exhibition of his works at MoMA in New York, Zanuso left an indelible mark on urban architecture as well. His projects for the Nuovo Piccolo Teatro in Milan and for Olivetti's industrial complexes demonstrate how his design philosophy was always oriented toward improving quality of life through space and objects, making him one of the undisputed masters of the culture of design of the twentieth century.
